Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Begin your spiritual journey as you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A representative from our team will welcome you and escort you to your hotel. After settling in, you’ll attend a comprehensive briefing about the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Enjoy a peaceful evening and rest overnight at the hotel with all meals provided.
Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Visa Processing
Explore Kathmandu’s spiritual heart with visits to the Pashupatinath Temple, Gujeshwori Devi, and the revered Sleeping Vishnu Temple. After a day of cultural immersion, return to your hotel. Your visa for the Kailash tour will be processed during this time, preparing you for the journey ahead.
Day 3: Drive to Timmure – Border Town
Embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to the Nepal-China border town of Timmure. The journey covers approximately 135 km and takes 6–7 hours through winding Himalayan roads. Enjoy vegetarian meals en route and check into a comfortable guesthouse for a restful overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Kerung and Begin Acclimatization
Proceed through immigration checks and cross into Tibet. A short drive brings you to Kerung, your first stop in the Tibetan plateau. Spend the day adjusting to the higher elevation, resting, and preparing for the next stage of your pilgrimage. Overnight at a local guesthouse.
Day 5: Full Day Acclimatization in Kerung
Take time to acclimate properly with a visit to the ancient Pakpa Monastery, built in the 7th century. Explore Kerung’s local market and enjoy regional cuisines. This day is crucial for adjusting to the altitude before continuing your journey further into Tibet.
Day 6: Drive to Saga
Travel deeper into Tibet with a drive from Kerung to Saga. Cross the breathtaking Lalungla Pass at 16,000 feet, and witness stunning views of Paigu-tso Lake and the mighty Brahmaputra River. Arrive in Saga for an overnight stay in a comfortable guesthouse with vegetarian meals.
Day 7: Journey to Manasarovar Lake
Drive across the Mayumula Pass (17,000 ft) en route to the sacred Lake Manasarovar. Along this spiritually significant route, catch your first view of Mount Kailash. Participate in a bus parikrama (circumambulation) along the lake’s shoreline. Stay overnight by the lake in a peaceful guesthouse.
Day 8: Sacred Rituals at Manasarovar and Drive to Darchen
Begin your day with rituals and prayers by the holy Lake Manasarovar. Though direct bathing is prohibited, symbolic purification is performed on its shores. Visit the Chiu Monastery and enjoy panoramic views before driving to Darchen, the base camp for Mount Kailash Kora.
Day 9: Trek to Dirapuk Monastery
The sacred Parikrama begins with a trek from Darchen to Dirapuk, covering 18 km. Pass through Yamadwar (Tarboche), the gateway of liberation. The trail offers mesmerizing views of Mount Kailash’s northern face. Arrive at Dirapuk Monastery and rest in shared accommodations.
Day 10: Trek Over Dolma La Pass to Zutulpuk
This is the most physically and spiritually intense day. Ascend to Dolma La Pass (5,600m), the highest point of the trek. Pay homage at Gaurikunda and descend along the sacred Lhamchu Khir River. Reach Zutulpuk and spend the night in a guesthouse.
Day 11: Complete Kora and Drive to Saga
Trek a short distance from Zutulpuk to Chasang, and then drive back to Darchen. After lunch, begin the return journey to Saga, enjoying scenic Tibetan landscapes en route. Arrive in Saga for overnight rest and reflection on the spiritual experiences of the past few days.
Day 12: Return Drive to Kerung
Start your journey back toward the border with a 3-hour drive to Kerung. After days of trekking and high-altitude travel, this relaxed day allows you to unwind. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a Kerung guesthouse.
Day 13: Drive to Kathmandu
After breakfast in Kerung, drive back to Kathmandu via scenic mountain roads and the Trishuli River valley. This 6–7 hour journey brings you back to where your journey began. Spend the night in Kathmandu and enjoy a comfortable hotel stay.
Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu to Chennai
Conclude your sacred expedition with a hotel checkout and transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport. Board your return flight to Chennai, carrying memories of a transformative Himalayan pilgrimage.
